England in the early autumn has always held a special place for us. The days stay bright and long, but temperatures start to drop, creating the perfect atmosphere to start bringing mid-weight pieces into the fold and build outfits that embrace layering.

For our September homepage, we headed to Petersfield in Hampshire to capture the English countryside in all its glory. Nestled towards the eastern end of the South Downs, the rolling hills, golden farmland, and dense woods of the area provide the perfect backdrop for our first transitional looks. While the sun still provides comfortable heat in the open stretches, the shade brings a chill that requires thicker fabrics, so each look on this shoot is built around the ability to chop-and-change, keeping everything versatile and practical for this time of year.

With some of our favourite brands, including Baracuta, Merz b Schwanen, Paraboot, Freewheelers & Co, FULLCOUNT, and more, Finn, Ken, and Kaif pull together some inspiration for your transitional wardrobe as they trek through this quintessentially English landscape.

Ken (left) wears Freewheeler's Gilmore Oil Company Speed Engineer Sleeveless Coat, Whitesville Two-Pack T-Shirt, Buzz Rickson's U.S. Marine Corps P44 Herringbone 'Monkey Pants'. Kaif (right) wears Freewheeler's Deck Worker Jacket - Dark Khaki, Lavenham Thornham Gilet - Dark Chocolate, FULLCOUNT 4081 'Good Old Button Down' Shirt - Grey, RRL Milner Straight Fit Selvedge Jean, Beams Plus Preppy Stripe Tie.
