As part of their collaboration with novelist William Gibson, Buzz Rickson’s have brought us a piece of beautiful military fiction. The black MA-1 was imagined by the central character in Gibson’s novel ‘Pattern Recognition’, and has been thoughtfully brought to life by these pioneers of military reproduction. Featuring a durable nylon outer shell, this iconic flight jacket is cut in a boxy shape, and provides protection from the elements with a water repellent finish, and a wool interior membrane.
Ribbed collar cuffs and waistband ensure the perfect comfort fit, while a heavy duty Crown zipper provides the front closure, which is then further protected with an interior wind flap. U.S. Govt. Department of Defence snap poppers secure the two outer and two inner pockets, which have been lined with a heavy cotton drill fabric for comfort and durability.
A leather oxygen mast entry point can be found adjacent to the front closure, for period correct authenticity, and a zippered arm pocket has been added for functionality, also offering five pen holders for convenience.
This jacket really is a sight to behold, and the quality is unmatched in today’s market. We are proud to have it amongst our archives, here at Son of a Stag
