YAECA | How to Wear the Wide Leg Classic Chino
Founded by designer Tetsuhiro Hattori and communications director Kyoko Ide in 2002, YAECA is a clothing and lifestyle brand that blends a minimalist approach with considered Japanese production. Emphasising understated comfort, the brand's ethos centers around the philosophy of ‘design based on necessity’, with luxurious materials being used to craft essentials that feel surprisingly modern considering how carefully they’re produced.
As one of the newest labels on our roster, we thought it was time to highlight YAECA, and what better place to start than with the brand's incredible selection of chinos.Meticulous construction has been applied across the garments, including a button shank to reduce stress when worn, and bar tacks at stress points, both which ensure longevity. Pockets have been set directly into the outseam, and a watch pocket and belt loops have been applied directly into the waistband for a purposefully clean finish. A gusset in the crotch allows for ease of movement, and seam allowance on legs and waistband means they can be tailored to your exact measurements if desired. To top it all off, the brand has chosen a luxurious selvedge cotton , making for an incredibly versatile pair of chinos that sit somewhere between classic tailoring and mid-century workwear.
Start with the Classics...
Getting our hands on the wide leg classic chino for the first time immediately made us want to experiment with some looks, and with four distinct colours to choose from, we tried to do something slightly different with each outfit. Khaki, being the colour most people think of when imagining a chino, lends itself to a reliably archetypal outfit.
A FULLOUNT Type III over a TOYS McCOY henley adds a relaxed charm, and a pair of suede Reproduction of Found GATs elevates the casual look to something that feels thoughtful without being dressy.
