Where streetwear and heritage meet

History

Though they may seem very modern at first glance, a wider jean was the standard back when denim was first gaining popularity. The sailors trousers, ranchwear, and mining uniforms of the late 1800s and early 1900s sport super wide cuts that allow easier movement and provide the recognisable, flowy silhouette of the time.

Culture

Today, not many people are dressing like sailors and miners, but the resurgence of vintage styles has driven people back over 100 years to look for information. These deep cut silhouettes, as well as 1990s grunge and skater culture, has pulled ultra-wide denim into the mainstream in a way that feels like it defines the look of the 2020s.

Casual Daytrip

For relaxed days out in the sun, ONI Denim’s 222 cut is the ideal contemporary take on the selvedge jeans we all know and love. Owen kicks back with a coffee, pairing the flowy silhouette with a Whitesville tee, a Warehouse & Co shirt, and some sharp Sanders & Sanders loafers.

Classic Outdoorsman

Owen takes wide-leg jeans in a more classic direction with this look, using FULL COUNT’s heavily faded ‘Duke II’’s to bolster a woodsman-inspired outfit. RRL’s wool overshirt and Yuketen’s gorgeous Angler shoes are the perfect choices to elevate this style.

Shop the scene

A fan favourite wide jean, the 0105 pairs perfectly with more classic jackets and chunkier shoes.
